Approximately 300 8th through 12th grade students from Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center, Ingleside Middle School and Arcadia High School, and 75 teachers will participate in lead-in activities and the event. Students and teachers will rotate through DNA fingerprinting and extractions labs in an onsite CCS Presentation Mobile equipped with the latest technology. Arcadia High School's Biotechnology and Advanced Placement student leaders and teachers will provide direction and support. Eighth grade students have the opportunity to enter both the national DNA essay contest and poster contest, with interdisciplinary support provided by middle school Language Arts, Science and Art teachers, and the Arcadia High School team. Local awards will be announced Wednesday, April 23, when Arcadia High School hosts DNA Parent and Community Night. Parents, students and community members will engage in Arizona Science Center outreach activities, CCS Presentation Mobile labs, tour the Biotechnology facility at Arcadia High School, and we will feature exciting career paths. Please join us for this exceptional experience! We hope to provide the STEM opportunity annually and expand to include other Scottsdale Unified School District schools.
