About "Brocade" - "The inspiration for this painting was this beautiful antique, mandarin jacket made from an exquisite golden and black brocade. It took me awhile to use this piece of clothing because it was so intricate.
One of my favorite artists is Gustav Klimt. He was known for creating these elaborate and ornamental backgrounds, but still drawing your eye to the figure...."

About Richard Johnson

Richard Johnson is well-known for his unique ability to capture the moment and spirit of sports events. Johnson has worked on portraits for the Washington Redskin's cornerback Carlos Rodgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. He has also created artwork for the USA Olympic Ski Team. Meet Richard Johnson at The Art Shop on April 15th from 7 - 9 pm!

Spring is here and it's in full bloom this month at The Art Shop with a terrific one-man show and beautiful new originals and limited editions from your favorite artists. It's also a great time for spring cleaning. Take a look at your artwork. Does it need updating? Are the bevels in your mats brown or discolored? Bring it in for a free inspection or we make house calls.

We have so many exciting plans for this talented and contemporary figurative artist during his first visit to North Carolina and The Art Shop. Our gallery is filled with his incredible originals and limited edition canvases.
Richard arrives a day earlier and will be conducting a portrait master class with a live model for top students at Weaver Education Center. On Friday evening from 7-9pm, he'll be at the gallery greeting fans and collectors and providing a live painting demonstration. Hope you will join us for fine wine and hors d'oeuvres that evening and then will come back on Saturday from 1-3 pm. Richard will again greet the public and will be critiquing and judging the students' works that will be on display.

 An Italian, born in Striano near Naples in 1961, Fiore began painting at a very young age. While completely self-taught, he has managed to develop a very successful career. His present focus is on producing exquisite yet relaxing scenes of Venice which have become collected throughout Italy, the United States and Japan. He now lives in a small town in Tuscany with his wife and child. We are looking forward to welcoming Fiore to The Art Shop October 28th! Stay tuned for more details as they develop.
