Spring Vacation - Do You or Don't You?
|
|
It's a common topic of conversation among homeschoolers to ask about schedules, vacations, etc. this month we thought we'd each answer the question, "Do you take a Spring Vacation?"
Jennie:
Living across the street from a park, my children are very aware
when "school's out". Once we see the park full on a Monday morning in March,
they know it's Spring Break. Even though my children try every year to get the
same time off, I always remind them of the breaks they take throughout the year
when other kids are in school. So as a compromise, we usually just have a light
week of school filled with lots of time in the park.
Marillee:
We do usually take a spring break, however, it is not Oregon's spring break, but Washington's so we can do something with my sister-in-law. Homeschooling really works with our vacation
schedule. This year we are renting a house for a week with his sister
& kids in Lincoln City.
Dena: My answer is similar to Marillee's. We generally end up taking a week off in the Spring and I consider that our "Spring break". This year my daughter and I will be attending a homeschooling conference in Florida while the younger boys stay with grandma and friends. That will be in May, but we're considering it Spring Break.
What about you? Do you have an interesting or unusual way to celebrate Spring Break?

Mnemonic of the Month - Reader Favorites
|
Last month we were pleased to have a couple of readers send in their favorite mnemonics, which I'm going to share in this issue. The first is one that I use all the time.
Go eat pop corn=
Galations, Ephesians,
Phillipians, Colosians.
This has helped me to
find these Bible Books quickly, remembering their order in the Bible when
looking up a Scripture.
~Mary
And for the Great Lakes:
Hi! The mnemonic I use for my kids and
have shared with others is:
Super Man
Helps
Every
One
Also, Niagara Falls is between lakes Erie and
Ontario, because if you went down the falls, you would probably shriek has you
went, "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!" ~Karla
What about you? Do you have a favorite mnemonic you'd like to share? If so, email us at triggermemory@charter.net with "mnemonic" in the subject line.
