Charlotte Mason fans will be familiar with Anna Comstock's  Handbook of Nature Study. This amazingly thorough resource will set you well on your way to answering most of the questions you and your children will encounter while studying nature. When my husband brought home a turtle he found crossing the road, we were able to pull down Comstock's guide and quickly identify the turtle. (Yes, we returned it) While a print version of this large manual is highly desirable, you can download this guide for free HERE.
Once you have the guide, be sure and check out this wonderful blog resource. Barb has created a series of Nature Challenges based on readings in the Handbook of Nature Study. These Challenges are a simple, non-intimidating way to make nature study a part of your child's education.
