Parent Heart Watch
Partners with National Athletic
Trainers' Association (NATA)
Parent Heart Watch is collaborating with the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and other key stakeholders in a call to action for improved early detection, prevention and emergency preparedness initiatives to protect young lives from sudden cardiac arrest and death in youth sports.
NATA is a strong national voice advocating for Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools and all work settings. The organization urges all certified athletic trainers to include an AED program as part of their emergency action plan when treating children and adults for SCA.
Earlier this year, PHW Board Member Diane Claerbout presented at the NATA Summit on the Youth Sports Safety Crisis in America held in Sacramento, CA. Parent Heart Watch is one of 29 leading sports and healthcare organizations that comprise the alliance. |
Parent Heart Watch in the Media
Featured Nationally on WGN and Dr. Oz Show
Your Chance to Get Local PR!
Sudden Cardiac Arrest in youth was on center stage last month when Parent Heart Watch was featured nationally on WGN-TV....and more exciting coverage is ahead! PHW Co-Executive Director Laura Friend will be featured on the Dr. Oz show sometime in the next month! Although we may not get more than 24 hours advance notice, we will send out a media alert as soon as we know the exact date.
This is a great opportunity for YOU and PHW to get local coverage as well. Once you know when the show will be airing, contact the news department at your local television station that carries the Dr. Oz Show (you can find it on his website at www.doctoroz.com). Tell them you know Dr. Oz will be airing a story about SCA in youth and that you have a local story you would like to share with them. Often they carry local stories on the news to complement what airs nationally on their network. It's your chance to share your story, raise awareness about SCA in youth and what you are doing locally to carry out the PHW national mission.

We Need Your Support
While you are working hard at the local grassroots level to raise awareness about SCA in youth, PHW is doing the same on a national level. Our specific areas of focus include an increased national media presence, the continued development of national collaborations, the creation of a national registry, and the ongoing support of PHW members.
We need your help! Consider donating a small percentage of what you raise locally back to your national organization; or write a personal check if you can. We know that times are tough, and every dollar is appreciated. We are proud to be the national voice solely dedicated to protecting youth from Sudden Cardiac Arrest and preventable Sudden Cardiac Death.
