A Website Worth Checking Out
 | The New Oregon Culinary Institute Website |
Having been open now for over six years, it shouldn't seem like a fourth incarnation of our website is such a shock, especially when you consider how quickly technology and the way we use it is changing. But the version we just launched we believe has some serious "staying power" (we hope!). Some of the changes include:
- It is optimized for mobile devices (smart phones, that is);
- Our Twitter feed is now featured on the landing page;
- Our blog is now housed on the site;
- New videos, including Chef Wilke's video tour, "Student Life," and links from the video page to the "Heritage Pig Project."
There are plenty of other bells and whistles, and we encourage you to take the site for a spin and let us know what you think!
Lastly, we'd like to thank the team at Hot Pepper Studios for all of their hard work on building and launching our new site!

A Busy August and September
It's probably no coincidence that a couple of the busiest and most exciting months of the year always seem to be August and September -- after all,
Mother Nature's pantry is bursting with goodies from the harvest and everyone's ready to celebrate.
Friday, August 10: Bob Kramer, Master Bladesmith, of Kramer Knives will be visiting OCI to share his wealth of knowledge and expertise with our students.
Monday, Sept. 10: 4th Annual Kitchen Ninja Invitational. Four current students and four select graduates pair off in this competition comprised of a series of culinary challenges. For videos of the past three competitions, check out this playlist on our YouTube channel.
Thursday, Sept. 20 - Sunday, Sept. 23: Feast Portland is " a world-class celebration of food, drink and everything else that makes Portland awesome." The mission is to end childhood hunger in Oregon (and beyond). Our students will be assisting chefs and event staff during the four days of this robust celebration. Visit www.feastportland.com for more info and to get tickets -- they're going fast!
In addition to these exciting events, we are proud to partner with OCI Alum Matthew Domingo's exemplary Farm to Fork operation. The mission of Farm to Fork is "to engage the public in the local food movement and demonstrate how important it is to preserve farmland and support local agriculture." The amplifier for this mission is a series of dinners at various small farms in the region. To learn more or to check the schedule and availability, visit www.farmtoforkevents.com.
