For the third year in a row, OCI has held a "Kitchen Ninja Competition." If you've been paying attention to our social media and our marketing, then you've probably noticed the term 'kitchen ninja' or at least the iconic image you see above. You may wonder how this term came about. It's a good story. A prospective student came to visit us back in 2008 from New Orleans. He had been working in a restaurant down there with another guy who had gone to a different culinary school in Portland. When he heard that our prospective student was thinking about going to the same school, the guy said "You need to go to OCI - they're training kitchen ninjas there." The rest, as they say, is history.
