WHAT'S COOKING at OCI ISSUE 1
|
Greetings!
Why, you may be asking yourself, the term "Kitchen Ninja." That's a great question.
As the story goes, someone once advised a friend to attend Oregon Culinary Institute because, in his words, "they are training kitchen ninjas there." We don't know where he came up with that term, but we liked it, because, well, whoever this guy was, he pretty much got it right.
What, exactly, is an "OCI Kitchen Ninja"? Executive Chef Brian Wilke alludes to the fun part of being a Kitchen Ninja, "You get to do all those things your mom told you not to do: play with food, fire and knives." Anthony Wilkie (no relation), winner of the First Annual OCI Kitchen Ninja Competition (see below), speaks more to the skill. Click here for his response. Training at OCI encompasses both. We practice skills every day -- every single day. And we work hard. But we also have fun.
Whatever fuels your fire for cooking, baking, or hospitality, we will be sending out an email newsletter like this one every couple weeks with OCI and industry news, cooking tips, and links to videos and photos. If you are not interested in receiving these emails, opting out is as easy as clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of this newsletter. |
