The X-Ray Vision Adjuster Tool |
Though seldom faster than a speeding bullet or stronger than a locomotive, the 21st century adjuster has available technology tools that can greatly enhance his or her ability to detect and evaluate damage. One such tool being increasingly used in the building industry for quality control is infrared thermography. |
|
Creating the ability to spot hidden factors such as moisture in a wall or floor, or heat being generated by defective electrical wiring - and according to some experts, even biological attack (such as mold) or pest infestation verification - infrared thermography may provide new opportunities to find latent sources of loss. |
Once popular in the traumatic medical field, where thermography was touted as a means of demonstrating painful areas of the body where the pain had created inflammation, today thermal imaging is also a common tool used by fire departments to detect pockets of heat in hidden areas of a structure. However, experts advise that learning how to use thermal imaging devices such as infrared thermography does require extensive study, otherwise readings may be deceptive. |
Technological tools can give the users with know-how the skills and abilities of a Superman, including x-ray vision. But as in any profession, mistakes can be costly. Delay, failure to carefully document, and failure to communicate carefully can create further loss and problems for insurers and self-funding entities alike. As new technology becomes available to the risk and insurance industry the need for detailed education becomes ever more important. |
Just knowing what technology is available is only the start. Prevention of costly mistakes and the knowledge about the technological tools available, where to obtain them and how to use them correctly in the prevention of loss and the adjusting of claims, is what the experts at Crawford Educational Services are able to impart. The ability to proceed without mistakes is built into every one of our courses. For complete course listings, visit our website.
