NYC is Most Expensive Parking in US |
|
How much are you paying for monthly parking in NYC?
The survey is in, and New York City wins the award for the most expensive monthly parking in North America.
A recent survey found that Midtown Manhattan has a median rate of $541 and Downtown Manhattan comes in at $533. And believe it or not, that's less than a 1% increase over 2010 rates.
NYC is still less expensive than Zurich ($822), Rome ($719), and Hong Kong ($745) but still more expensive than Boston ($438), San Francisco ($375), Philadelphia ($304), and Chicago ($289).
What's the most expensive Manhattan monthly parking? The garage at 277 Park Aveth St will cost you $1,200, but you can park for just $89 at E. 117th St and 1st Ave.
If you're looking for cheap monthly parking, here are some tips:
- Park in an outdoor lot,
- Park closer to 1st, 2nd, 11th, and 12th Avenues,
- Park in the upper part of Manhattan, like Inwood,
- Get a Storage Rate if you use your car 3 or fewer times a month,
- Ask for a Day Monthly Rate if you take out your car every business day, or
- Find a Night Monthly Rate if you only need parking between 6pm – 7am on weekdays.
