July 3, 2010
Greetings!

If you're planning on going to NYC's July 4th Macy's fireworks display tomorrow, we've got all the insider advice on the best viewing area, how to get there, areas to avoid, and yes, where to park.
July 4 NYC Fireworks
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The 26 minute display starts at 9:00 pm. According to About.com, the best viewing area will probably be South of 42nd Street along the pier, by the Circle Line.

If you're driving to see the fireworks:
The West Side Highway will be closed from 14th to 79th Streets in both directions, from about 4pm onwards. You will need to exit at 79th Street going south.

The NYC Police Department may close the West Side Highway as high as 125th Street or 158th Street, depending on traffic.

Here are some parking ideas:
Since it's Sunday, parking on the street is free!

But if you want to park your car in a garage, there are 47 garages and lots from 42nd to 23rd Street between 8th Avenue and the West Side Highway. Most of these will probably impose an event rate for July 4th, so try going east of 8th Avenue or try for a garage in midtown.

We're updating our blog as we get hear about great parking deals, so keep checking. In the meantime, consider these options:
