Greetings!
Since Manhattan is laid out on a grid, it should be easy to navigate and get around, right? So why do some of us get out of the subway and have absolutely no idea which way is uptown? Probably for the same reason that some of us still use the Met Life/Pan Am, Empire State, and Chrysler buildings to help us get our bearings.
To help everyone out, we’ve been gathering some fun and little-known facts about Manhattan. Here are a few:
Even streets go East, generally. So 54th Street goes east and 53rd Street goes west. |
Even numbered buildings are usually on the South or downtown side of the street. When a street faces a park, you’ll find both odd and even numbers on the same side. |
The traffic lights on 1st Avenue are timed so well that you can go 20 – 40 blocks without hitting a red light. |
We’ve got even more on our at new blog post so read on!
