Greetings!
Happy 100th Anniversary Queensboro Bridge. No matter if you still call it the 59th Street Bridge or even the Feelin’ Groovy Bridge, head over to the East Side on Sunday night, May 31st, at 9:15pm to watch “Fireworks by Grucci” and celebrate this great event, where the fireworks launch from the tip of Roosevelt Island. The event is sponsored by our friends at the NYC Bridge Centennial Commission.
Here’s a tidbit to impress your friends. The bridge’s unique cantilever design sets it apart from all the other East River crossings, which are all suspension bridges.
If you’re driving in, make sure you know the FDR exits and entrances. If you need parking, check out our Park It! NYC guide to all the nearby garages and lots. We ship everyday so you’ll have it by Sunday.
The celebration goes from May 31st – June 6th, and even includes a reenactment of the first trip over the bridge. Can’t miss that. Want to know more? www.nycbridges100.org.

| CAR-FREE BROADWAY |
 |
As of today, the city has begun converting Broadway near Times Square and Herald Square into major pedestrian malls. All vehicles – cars, taxis, buses and trucks – will be diverted to Seventh Avenue.
Just imagine it. Sitting at a table in the middle of Broadway, from 42nd to 47th Street, having coffee with a friend or people-watching. Or you might be having a picnic on the street from 33rd to 35th Street while watching a simulcast of the Tony Awards (June 7) or Wimbledon. Here are the events planned this summer
This is all part of Bloomberg’s plan to reduce traffic and make the sidewalks less crowded. The theory is that the diagonal path of Broadway creates three-way intersections in both areas that frequently pile up with cars. The plan was announced only three months ago and it’s supposed to be completed by mid-August.
