Can Kissing in a Car Get You A Ticket? |
Greetings!
We love this question! One of our subscribers got a ticket for kissing his girlfriend in a car at the bus stop as he dropped her off. The ticket was for the stopping, not the kissing. We helped him beat the ticket, because it turns out that you can ‘temporarily stand’ at a bus stop to quickly receive and drop off passengers, just as long as your car doesn’t interfere with any buses. According to Gridlock Sam, in traffic parlance this is known as a ‘kiss and ride’ and is just fine at bus stops, ‘No Parking’ and ‘No Standing’ zones. However, you can’t kiss and drop off in a ‘No Stopping’ zone.

Thanks to Gridlock Sam, former Deputy Commissioner of NYC DOT, and his Traffic Conundrums book for the hint.
