Every other Tuesday, small business owners now can take advantage of SBDC's one-on-one management consulting being offered at Optima Bank & Trust.

Beginning on June 15, SBA will start guaranteeing America's Recovery Capital (ARC) loans. ARC loans are deferred-payment loans of up to $35,000 available to established, viable, for-profit small businesses that need short-term help to make their principal and interest payments on existing qualifying debt.  ARC loans are interest-free to the borrower, 100% guaranteed by the SBA, and have no SBA fees associated with them.
 
Disaster preparedness for homes and businesses should include:
     - A solid emergency response plan.
     - Adequate insurance.
     - Making copies of important records.
     - A "Disaster Survival Kit."
More preparedness tips for businesses, homeowners and renters are available on the SBA's website, the Institute for Business and Home Safety, and at www.ready.gov.
 
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides a number of tax incentives for businesses, including expanded net operating loss carryback, discharge of business indebtedness, and others.
 
Businesses planning to claim the newly-expanded work opportunity tax credit (WOTC) for eligible unemployed veterans and unskilled younger workers hired during the first part of 2009 have until Aug. 17 to request the certification required for these workers, according to the IRS.
 
The NH Division of Travel and Tourism recently launched a new, high-tech, user-friendly planning resource where you can easily compare hundreds of venues and services, view videos and slideshows, find hot deals, send RFP's, create your own websites for your events, and more. The best part is that it is all free!

This workshop is for people who are interested in learning the fundamentals of starting and running a business the right way.  Some subjects covered are the pros and cons of being in business, registering your business, choosing the business form (LLC, sole proprietor, etc.), basics of accounting and record keeping, understanding your market, basic business law, cash flow planning and budgeting, and how financing really works.

The SBDC Restaurant Initiative is an award-winning, statewide program that focuses on helping independent restauranteurs grow their businesses while being mindful of cost and budgets.
 
Controlling Food Costs: This seminar will help you to make better management decisions by developing your skills and control systems and helping  you to communicate these systems to your employees.  The importance of food cost percentages and industry standards will be an important component of this workshop.
