"Developing New Markets for Your Art" Workshop NH State Council on the Arts Friday, June 29, 10: 00 a.m. - Noon Plymouth State University, Concord Markets for art are changing; there are many options beyond the traditional gallery setting. You can jump onto the internet by opening a "store" on Etsy or reach out to your audience through an "art market." In this workshop geared toward visual artists, Katy Solsky (Director of the Concord Art Market), Susan Schwake (Artistic Director of artstream studios, a gallery, media design and art academy in Rochester) and Megan Bogonovich (a sculptor and 2008 NH State Council on the Arts Fellow) will offer their insights on marketing one's art through both the internet and direct sales. Members of the Arts and Culture industry -- businesses large and small (including individuals), not-for-profits, municipal organizations and others -- often do not have a solid understanding of key legal issues, ranging from establishing and respecting copyright to tax issues to nonprofit governance and beyond. Many times they do not have the resources to obtain this information and end up seeking help once it is too late. This one-day event will bring together individuals from both the legal and arts/culture communities to discuss relevant and timely issues. Fee: $50 (Scholarship available). Register online.
