Theme of the Month: Collaborative Innovation
|
This month's topic circulates back to last month's Hannah Grimes Times, specifically Mary Ann Kristiansen's article on Collaborative Innovation:
"I would love 2012 to unfold as a year that the Hannah Grimes Center explores with you the ideas of how a community can stay innovative-- especially a rural community like ours. What does it mean? How does one do it? How are we already doing it?"
Please share your ideas with us.

What We're Reading By the Hannah Grimes Center Staff
|
We just started reading High On Business by Alan Newman (founder of Seventh Generation & Magic Hat Brewing Company). What's struck me so far is his opening declaration: I am a "serial entrepreneur" which at least sounds a little more respectable than a "psychopathic opportunity seeker."
Can any of you relate?
We'll be sure to add this title to the Hannah Grimes Library once we've finished reading it! In the meantime, feel free to email us a paragraph or two about What You're Reading.

What is Collaborative Innovation, Anyway? Discuss Here!

We, and hopefully you all, will follow up in the comments to this post to come up with a truly collaborative definition and description for collaborative innovation.
* From the blog's About Section: Collaborative Innovation, has been defined by the originator of the term, Peter Gloor (a Research Scientist at MIT Sloan's Center for Collective Intelligence) as "a cyberteam of self-motivated people with a collective vision, enabled by the Web to collaborate in achieving a common goal by sharing ideas, information, and work."
The DNA of Innovation Leaders
...It was intriguing to find what successful innovation leaders in large enterprise do not look like, what they do not seem to have in common. For instance, one might think being a visionary is required, or having mastery of web2.0 plus LAMP-stack or being viewed as a maverick or disruptive force in the business. Not at all. These can be attributes of interesting project managers or even venture managers, but the enterprise leaders (men or women) who have staying power are cut from a different swath.
