Creative Communities Exchange is a day and a half of workshops prepared by creative and cultural community leaders. The Exchange is an opportunity to move beyond connecting with peers to learn about model projects directly from those developing creative communities on the local level. I have a friend who's been in the fine craft biz for over twenty years. He's in the very best shows. He's an astute businessman as well as a talented artist. The first time he came to my open studio, he shared an insight I'd never considered before:  Offering too much lower-priced work to attract a wider audience can actually diminish your value for serious collectors.


Cooperative Venture Gives Emerging Artists and Crafters a Place to Grow

The owner of Blue Moon Soaps and Pottery in Peterborough has also started a nonprofit guild of artists, the Monadnock Crafters Guild, and gallery on Concord Street.  Guild members from throughout the region and beyond are selling their work, offering classes and creating a community of artists at 127 Concord St. Blue Moon, which used to operate at 40 Main Street, is now there, too.  Read more.



 Arts Alive! Cultural Tourism Group


After Commissioner Van MacLeod's Roundtable in December, a group convened to discuss how best to market the Monadnock Region as a destination for cultural tourism.  The group is composed of arts and cultural organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Monadnock Travel Council and interested citizens. We welcome those of you who have an interest in cultural tourism and who are willing to commit time and expertise to this initiative. Please contact Arts Alive! if you are interested.
