First, the bad news: We have recently learned that the reintroduction of Neutersol-an injectible sterilant for male dogs-into the United States has been cancelled. Please read on below for the details.
But we want to give you a heads-up about some very exciting news to be announced on October 16th at the SPAY/USA Roadmap Conference in Chicago. ACC&D is proud to be working with a strategic partner on a new initiative to stimulate work in non-surgical sterilization. Finding a "cure" to pet homelessness is no small undertaking, and we recognize that there will be bumps along the road to a safe, effective, affordable non-surgical sterilant for cats and dogs. The Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs (ACC&D) has recently learned that the reintroduction of Neutersol into the United States has been cancelled, with the termination of a contract between the company that was going to distribute the product and the patent-holder of the product.  "We are so very disappointed by this news", says Joyce Briggs, ACC&D President. "There is a segment of the U.S. population which is averse to castrating their male dogs, and this FDA-approved non-surgical sterilant had real potential to help expand population control programs to reach those dogs."

World Rabies Day, 10/28
55,000 people die each year from this preventable disease. Over half of the victims are children, and nearly all are infected by dogs. Through dozens of WRD events around the globe, participants will educate, raise awareness, and conduct vaccination clinics.
Rabies in the Americas (RITA), 9/ 28-10/2, Atlanta, GA
ACC&D will be networking with rabies prevention specialists to explore comprehensive vaccination and sterilization programs for free-roaming dogs.
