Printing Labels
One of a Series of Printer Efficiency Tips 
An ongoing cause of many service calls over the years has been jammed printers due to labels stuck in the laser cartridge, the fuser, the automatic document feeder, or other moving parts in the printer. Here are some tips to keep those labels printing smoothly and reduce your service calls.
- Run labels only from Tray 1, otherwise known as the bypass tray. This gives a more direct path through the printer without as much "bending" of the stock, reducing the possiblity that the labels will peel off inside the device.
- On newer printers, choose the correct stock in the print menu instead of running the label job with the default settings. To do this, go to File, Print, Properties and look for paper type. Choose Labels if available. More sophisticated printers now will actually alter the fusing temperature based on the paper type chosen, giving better fusing and fewer problems.
- Do not run label sheets multiple times, after some of the labels have been used. The waxy paper backing will melt in the fuser, reducing its life and resulting in degradation of the overall print quality

Freight Costs to Rise Again in 2011
As is usual in the first quarter, freight charges are slated to rise again this year. Federal Express increased rates 5.9% not accounting for the fuel surplus credit effective January 3 and UPS is estimating increases of 4.9% taking effect in February. Also look for potential fuel surcharges if fuel costs rise substantially this year.
One of the easiest ways to reduce your freight costs is to consolidate orders and increase order sizes. This will lead to lower average costs.
