Greetings!

One week each year is dedicated to celebrating libraries. National Library Week runs from April 8-14. We thank the Hammond community and our library users for allowing us to serve you. Please stop in this week to check out a book, attend one of our programs, use the computers, or ask a reference question.
Thanks to all who supported the Friends fundraiser
at Wendy's, 1844 165th St., Hammond (near Wal-Mart) on Thurs., March 29. From 5 to 8 p.m., the Friends received 15% of all revenue, both in the restaurant and the drive-thru. Another Wendy's fundraiser is set for Thursday, April 26 from 5-8 p.m.

A representative from the Alzheimer's Association provides descriptions of the various causes of dementia, and the difference between typical aging and problematic memory changes. How Alzheimer's affects the brain; causes and risk factors; and information on obtaining a diagnosis is also covered. Just RSVP by clicking here, or call HPL at (219) 931-5100, Ext. 310.

The next Friends Half-Price Sale is Sat., April 28. You may have noticed the new lawn signs promoting our sale. The Friends purchased these signs to draw attention to the Book Sale Room. Many of the buyers at last week's sale had never been in the room before! Remember that the Friends accept donations of books, magazines, movies and music. Just bring them to the library during regular hours. |
