HOLIDAY HOURS:
The library closes at 5 p.m. Friday, December 23 (as we usually do). The library is also closed Saturday, December 24 and Monday, December 26. The library reopens Tuesday, December 26.

WINTER READING
Teen Winter Reading takes place during December. See below under Teen Programs for details. Winter Reading for youth and adults takes place in January. Read books and be eligible to win cool prizes.
 

MITTEN TREE

Donations of new gloves, mittens, scarves and hats are accepted at Main Library, to benefit those in need. This program is sponsored by Friends of St. Anthony Hospice. Please bring your donations to the front desk, and thanks for helping!

 

FOR STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN - 12th GRADE 

In partnership with Calumet College of St. Joseph, we offer
FREE tutoring in Reading. No appointment necessary. Come to the Main Library any time during the sessions.
Times are subject to change. For more information, please call Youth Services at (219) 931-5100. Ext. 336.

 

**Please check for tutor availability. Tutors will be away on winter break from mid-December until January 17, 2012.**

Hammond Reads announces its 11th annual Essay Contest. Essays are accepted until 4 p.m. January 27, 2012. The contest is open to Hammond residents, as well as educators and students at a school in Hammond. (class schedule, report card, etc.) that shows you're in 7th - 12th grades.

Teen Winter Reading   

 Dec. 1-31. 
Teens can win prizes for reading! Each book gets you an entry into
the prize drawings, to be held Dec. 17 and 31. A grand prize will be
awarded the first week in January, 2012. So start reading!

Lego Club

Join the club to build something really cool & have lots of fun!
Lego Club meets January 10. In the meantime, the Lego Club is having a contest.
If you appreciate a nicely built Lego creation, vote on the club members' projects.
Visit Youth Services to see the creations and to get a voting slip. Voting ends
December 28. 
The winner receives a special Lego surprise.
