Vol. 10:13   July 1, 2011

Greetings!

Main Library now carries video games. You may check out popular games in Wii, PlayStation 3 and xBox formats.
There is a limit of 7 games, with a 2-day checkout. (Note:
games are not available at branches. Also, we do not have
gaming consoles.)

HAVE YOU SIGNED UP YET?

There's still 1 month left of the Summer Reading Program, so you still have time to sign up! There are four separate programs for all age levels. MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Thursday, July 28,  when Samantha's Amazing Animals perform at each location. This is a FREE FAMILY PROGRAM! See youth programs, below.

For Youth: "One World, Many Stories."
There are two separate programs:

Listeners, for children who have someone
     read to them

Readers, for youth who read on their own.

For teens, "You Are Here" is your chance to read or attend programs, and be eligible
to win cool prizes.

Adults can sign up for "Novel Destinations" and be entered to win a tote bag of goodies. One bag will be given away at each location.

Reminder: All HPL locations are closed Monday, July 4 (Independence Day)

HPL will again coordinate the Naturalization Ceremony. This year, however, it's not at Harrison Park, but at the new Wolf Lake Pavilion, 121st & Calumet. A concert of patriotic music is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the ceremony at 6 p.m. (Note: A parking fee may be assessed at Wolf Lake.)

Looking for a good book? Ask our librarians!

Whether you're heading to the beach, or having a
"Staycation" at home, check out a book to read (or
audiobooks to listen to) as you relax. Our staff is
happy to suggest a book you may enjoy. Happy Summer!
