HPL Gets Grant:

Hammond Public Library has received a grant for $14,300 to purchase 18 public access computers to replace older, slow computers at all three locations. The library contributed matching funds. HPL will also purchase a new laser printer for Main Library to replace an older one there. The printer is used to print pages for those who use the public computers. The new computers will benefit the public because the ones installed now are aging and are not able to keep up with the rapid changes in Internet technology.  New computers should be quicker and cause fewer problems while using the Internet.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library.  The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation's 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.  The Institute's mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
