Summer Reading has begun! Sign up at any HPL location. We have programs for all ages, from infants through adults. Look below for special programs!
 
Mark your calendars for a "Beach Concert" by Leonardo at all HPL locations, for all ages.

Free tutoring in reading and math
is available at all HPL locations for kindergarten through high school.A reading tutor is at Main; also, students from Calumet College of St. Joseph tutor in reading and math at all locations. Parents must register their children in advance. Tutors are available for 30 minute appointments.

Attention: those who receive our print newsletter, Bookends: Starting with the September issue, Bookends will be mailed only to members of Friends of the Library. This is being done to save money and be environmentally friendly.
The following options are available to you:
  • If you join the Friends, you'll receive Bookends as a benefit of membership (see the application at the bottom of this e-newsletter).
  • Anyone may also view Bookends via our website (you must have Adobe Acrobat, a free software program, installed on your computer).
  • Anyone may pick up a current Bookends at any HPL location.
  • Anyone may sign up at no charge to receive this e-newsletter, HPL eXTRA! twice a month. Just sign up on our library homepage.

Teen Scene, the space for teens, is on the second floor at Main Library.

Want to join Teen Scene? Bring in something from school (class schedule,
report card, etc.) that shows you're in 7th - 12th grades.
 
Teen Scene hours as of June 1 are:
Monday through Thursday: 1:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Friday: 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DONATIONS WELCOMED: The Friends accept gently used books, magazines, records and cassettes. These items may be used in various ways: placed in the library collection, offered for sale in the Book Sale Room, or sold online. Items that cannot be sold are donated to a recycling center where they are distributed to underprivileged areas, or reconstituted to help save the environment.
