HAMMOND PUBLIC LIBRARY CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY OF DR. SEUSS The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and Horton Hears a Who were just a few of the creations of the late author/illustrator, Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as "Dr. Seuss." The National Education Association has declared his birthday, March 2, as Read Across America Day.
HPL celebrates the birthday of Dr. Seuss at the following programs:
- Tues., March 2 at 3:30 p.m., Main Library
- Tues., March 23 at 6 p.m., Howard Branch

IT'S TAX TIME:Tax forms are available at Main Library's west lobby or at the 2nd floor Information Services desk. Supplies are limited; please take only what you individually need. HPL's website offers income tax information at http://www.hammond.lib.in.us/taxes.htm AARP will not offer tax preparation at HPL due to a lack of volunteers. Those needing assistance may schedule an appointment at the Salvation Army in Munster, (219) 838-0380; or at the East Chicago Public Library, (219) 397-2453.

Main Library again accepts donated formalwear for Tri Kappa's Prom Dress Resale. From March 15-April1, you may drop off new or gently used prom or formalwear at Main Library. Receipts are given for tax purposes.
Tri Kappa's Prom Dress Resale is Sat., April 3 at Purdue University Calumet's Alumni Hall. Information on the sale is with Cindy at (219) 972-0332.

gently used books, magazines, records and cassettes. These items may be
used in a variety of ways: placed in the library collection, offered
for sale in the Book Sale Room, or sold online. Items that cannot be
sold are donated to a recycling center where they are distributed to
underprivileged areas, or reconstituted to help save the environment.
