No tax help at HPL this year: AARP will not offer tax preparation at HPL this year. Those needing assistance may schedule an appointment at one of the following locations:

Adult Winter Reading
runs through January 30. Just check out a book, receive a tea bag (January is Hot Tea Month) and be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket of winter goodies.

You may enter as many times as you want, but may receive only one ticket per checkout. For example, if you check out 5 books, you still get only one ticket. One basket will be given out at each location.

Library Director to retire: Margaret Evans, HPL director, retires Feb. 1. The public are invited to a farewell open house on Thurs., Jan. 29 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Main Library.

Book Sale and Friends of the Library

The Friends offer the 2010 Book-A-Day calendar.
Just a few remain at Main Library, and the price
is slashed to $5. The calendar sells in stores for $12.99. 
 
New Year's Resolution: Declutter! The Friends accept gently used books, magazines, records and cassettes. These items may be used in a variety of ways: placed in the library collection, offered for sale in the Book Sale Room, or sold online. Items that cannot be sold are donated to a recycling center where they are distributed to underprivileged areas, or reconstituted to help save the environment.
