Adult Winter Reading runs from January 2-30. Just check out a book, receive a tea bag (January is Hot Tea Month) and be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket of winter goodies.
You may enter as many times as you want, but may receive only one ticket per checkout. For
example, if you check out 5 books, you still get only one
ticket.
One basket will be given out at each location.

What in the World...? You now have a new tool for information. World Book Web is now offered on library computers, or you can use it at home or office by entering your Hammond Public Library card number.
World Book Web contains a variety of resources including:
World Book Online for Kids, World Book Online Reference Center, World Book Discover, World Book Online Info Finder and World Book Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, which is a Spanish language encyclopedia. Book Sale and Friends of the Library

Do you have your 2010 calendar? the Friends offer the Book-A-Day calendar, only $7 at Main Library. The calendar sells in stores for $12.99. There are only a few left.
New Year's Resolution: If cleaning your basement or back room is on your list of resolutions, remember the Friends! The Friends accept gently used books, magazines, records and cassettes. These items may be used in a variety of ways: placed in the library collection, offered for sale in the Book Sale Room, or sold online. Items that cannot be sold are donated to a recycling center where they are distributed to underprivileged areas, or reconstituted to help save the environment.
