| RFKC 2010 ~ A Royal Choice |
|

|
Greetings!
This week, I have broken from the normal routine and will be in the Los Padres Mountains with forty-eight foster children and fifty great volunteer team members. This is the week of Royal Family Kids Camp 2010 (RFKC).
For those of you that are not aware, RFKC is the nation's largest week-long camping experience for foster children. RFKC is sponsored locally by Canyon Hills Assembly of God in Bakersfield, California. This year, we celebrate our 16th annual RFKC.
Each day at RFKC, we follow a theme that helps the children learn Bible stories. The theme for Monday was "Royal Choices" and the theme for today, Tuesday, is "Loyal Servants". Each year at RFKC, I am reminded about the simplicity of the Bible message as it is translated for the ears of 6-11 year olds. God speaks every year at RFKC and our great Bible teachers "make it plain" for all ears to hear the message of hope, love and grace!
Here are a couple of quotes from kids that I thought you might enjoy:
During prayer, "Dear God, I hope you had a good night sleeping last night and make today a great day!"
Another prayer, "Dear Father God, I know you love me but take care of the people. Thanks!"
Here is an answer to my question about the Bible characters in the story of Daniel: One child states, "Shadrach". Another, "Meschach". The third child raises his hand and replies, "Ambelemeno"! |

RFKC Scripture of the Week
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
~ 1 Peter 2:9 ~ |

Chosen for a Purpose
You are chosen by God. You are God's "Royal Choice". Just as Daniel and Esther were chosen by God, you have been chosen for His purposes. In fact, Psalm 139 tells us that you were made on purpose. That's right, God made you just the way He desired. Ephesians 2:10 tells us you were made for a purpose. God has chosen you to use you for His Kingdom and glory.
Not only are you chosen but you are a participant in ministry and God's Kingdom. You are priests or servants of the King. You are part of the Body of Christ and the great church of the redeemed. God chose you to place you in the local and global Body of Christ and to use you for the establishment and advancement of His Kingdom on earth. What an amazing opportunity to partner with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords for great things!
Due to God's choice, you have the Spirit of God inside you. In fact, God has shed His love abroad in your heart so that others may be attracted to Him through you. As God Word states, "you are the fragrance of Christ" (2 Corinthians 2:14). You are the perfume of Jesus upon the earth. We need to use this great gift to bring people into God's Kingdom as we share His grace, love, mercy and compassion.
God alone is the "Author of Peace". Man may strive to find peace apart from God but it is a futile attempt that leaves the heart empty and the soul in unrest. To find peace we must know God. To help others find peace we must "show" God! We show others God when we make the "royal choice" to unseal our lips and declare God's hand in our life.
Remember friend, you have been called out of darkness and into God's marvelous light. God has taken you out of the muck and mire and set your feet upon the rock (Psalm 40:1-3). God has brought you through the fire unburned. God has brought you through torturous waters without drowning (Psalm 66:12). God has moved upon your life. It is only appropriate to share what God has done and to be a "loyal servant" that allows the fragrance of Jesus to attract people into His Kingdom.
