Greetings!
Our daughter, Shelby, was in a horrific car accident on Prom Night this past Saturday. The car was broadsided because the driver of the car she was in ran a red light. The sad part of the accident is that the driver of the car Shelby was in had been drinking and she did not know. The car flipped many times, slid on the passenger side and came to rest against the curb. Both the driver and Shelby are blessed to be alive. We are thankful for God's grace, mercy and His hand of protection.
The past two days have been full of great support from friends and family. Unfortunately, they have also been full of accusations and slander from others that have no knowledge of the accident nor the details involved. It has been a difficult time attending to Shelby's injuries, the trauma witnessed by her friends, and the negative messages shared by some. Nonetheless, we have been resolute to stand firm in God's goodness, grace and mercy and to extend what He has extended to us to others.
In times like these, we must remember both "who we are" and "whose we are"... nothing else matters. The thoughts and opinions of others only matter if God is using them to convict, convince or challenge. Otherwise, it is chaff and good for nothing but blowing in the wind. I am thankful to God for His staying power, grace and provision during this time of healing. |

4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name. 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. 6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken."
Psalm 30: 4-6 |

Sometimes all you can say is "Thanks"
Psalm 30 is a psalm of thanksgiving for all of the deliverance God provided to David in his life. David was a man acquainted with great victories and heart-felt defeats. David knew the depth and joy of a soul connected to God.
As I read the words of Psalm 30, I felt the Presence of God overshadow my heart. As I read, "Sing to the Lord" it was easy to do so for God is great and greatly to be praised. As I read, "Praise His Holy Name", it was easy to do so for He alone is worthy of praise.
Friend, God is the only one who can make sense of senseless situations. He alone is the one that can make the crooked path straight ( Luke 3:5). He alone is the one to bring water to barren lands ( Isaiah 41:18) and He alone is the one that provided shelter and protection to Shelby in her time of need.
I cannot describe to you the relief, gratitude and joy we have today. Our daughter is alive. We planned hospital visits and not a funeral. I, like the psalmist, can joyfully declare in both good times and bad, "I will never be shaken"! God is always good, always in control and always to be glorified. We are thankful for the outcome and for His abiding Presence.
Thank you in advance for your prayers during this time of healing physically and emotionally.
