Speak and Seek the Good Word

Greetings!

I was encouraged today by a phone call from a friend. My encouragement stemmed from our common goal to live for and seek God's glory and work in our lives. That being said, my friend, like myself and all of us, struggle with our humanity and the attainment of our God honoring goal.

I am amazed at the amount of cluttered information this world requires to decipher and filter. Unfortunately, there is an overload of negative information. We are bombarded with negative messages, headlines, news reports and speech. The words can come from email, newspapers, magazines and oral communication. It is, if left unchecked, overwhelming to our mind and spirit.

My encouragement today was not just because a friend called but the reason why he called. He called to receive an encouraging word. He called to hear another voice other than the voice of doubt, defeat and despair the world, and thus our mind when we receive it, offers. I was encouraged because my "foxhole friend" knows the system. He knows that God's people are called to "share the good word" and lighten the load of life's burden. It was a great time to reflect on who God is and how God works ... He uses you and me!

The Word Overcomes Anxiety

25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

~ Proverbs 12:25 ~

 4 The Lord GOD has given me that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear;  and I was not rebellious, nor did I turn away.

~ Isaiah 50:4-5 ~

Blessed to be a Blessing

God's Word is clear about our responsibility to our fellow man. He has stated, as provided in the examples above, very clearly His intent for our speech. Good words and words in season (at the appropriate time) bring healing and joy to our Spirit. It is a simple process ... We are called to be a blessing in the lives of others as our speech brings life and defeats death!

Isn't it great to hear good news or a good report? We are wired to respond with enthusiasm and joy. While negative words follow the plan of the enemy to "kill, steal and destroy" (John 10:10), positive and encouraging words bring life. Proverbs 18:21 states it like this, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit."

Friend, today you have the opportunity to be a blessing in someone's life. Share the good word... encourage someone in your sphere of influence. It is easy to be negative and jump on the bandwagon of the world. Be different! Swim against the current of negativity and share a positive word.

Isaiah shared a simple process for declaring good and Godly words to "weary souls". God gave Isaiah the ability to speak. God gave Isaiah the words to speak. God spoke to Isaiah. Isaiah listened. Isaiah did not rebel but shared. Here is what we can learn and apply:

  1. Meet with God to receive;
  2. Listen to God (His Spirit and Word);
  3. Share with others when given opportunity;
  4. Repeat!

Be encouraged today as you encourage others. Life is much more than the latest headline or news flash. Life is provided from the words you speak!
For King and Kingdom,
