Greetings!
Thank you for praying while I was in Tanzania. The ministry was very fruitful. I am on the return trip home and all is well. The scare with Malaria will be cured through medication provided. You can follow the blogs at www.covenantcs.net
What is our goodness apart from God? It is rubbish ... actually, it is non-existent. The scriptures tell us that "apart from Jesus we can do nothing" (John 15:6) and that our hearts are "deceitful above all things" (Jeremiah 17:9). Where does this judgment leave us?
We are in the hands and heart of God. He knows that we need His love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. He understands our plight upon the earth and He has come to set us free from the grappling of this world and our flesh. He has come to overthrow judgment and usher in grace.
Despite what is going on around you, or going on in you, God has your best interests in mind and a plan in action to assist and support. God is not absent from life on earth. He provided His Son to open the door of restored relationship. He provided His Spirit to give and sustain life through transformation of our soul. Nonetheless, despite these truths life can become overwhelming and challenging. This is where the example of David helps.

The Cry of a Heart After God
1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight. 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips. 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

To be Sustained be Transparent with God
I love the heart and messages of David. David laid it all out there for us to learn from His experiences both sorrowful and triumphant. David, the "man after God's own heart" (Acts 13:22), is one of the greatest human examples of a follower of God being transparent in his struggle to find peace and joy.
David opened His soul before God and poured forth it's contents. In Psalm 16, David is struggling with evil and perversity in the world. Yet, at the same time knowing he too can fall trap to the same.
David understood human nature and had a desire to please, serve and love an inhuman God. Thus, David himself cried out and recalled God's goodness as his future, provision, sustenance, strength and hope. David knew that he could not do anything worthwhile without God. As a result, David learned to completely trust God and not men.
Friend, may you see God through the eyes of David. May you be blessed to know the "fullness of joy" only found in Jesus. May you find, in God, all you need and may that lead you to enjoy his "pleasures forevermore".
Remember, this life, though we place so much of our stake and value upon it, is really but a shadow of our true eternal life. Therefore, cast your gaze upon Heaven. March in step with the Master's plan and enjoy fulfillment and peace as you are tied to His transformative heart.
