The Law of the Harvest
Reaping what we sow
Greetings!

"Take life by the horns before it takes you with it's horns". These were my words the other day speaking to a youth in my life. After I gave my counsel, I thought about my numerous friends, self included, that need to be reminded of the same message.

Life has no promises for us but aging and death. This may sound brutal but it is nonetheless true. In fact, if we don't establish and build our relationship with God, our life here is totally in vain ... it is but a vapor that will soon fade to emptiness. On the other hand, if we commit to Jesus and live for and through Him, then life has meaning and positive momentum. The catch is that we have to "sow" into life.

In our ministry with former foster youth, and in my personal ministry with my teenagers, I have noticed the lack of foresight youth have about their decisions and how those decision impact their future. Many youth simply don't understand the concept of "sowing" today for a future "harvest". I know this is not a new phenomena but it seems to be on the rise. Folks are simply cruising through life and not truly "living" life. This "life" philosophy is directly against the law of the harvest ... the law of sowing and reaping.

There is no "Easy" Button

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

~ Galatians 6:7-8 ~

Live fully and commit today to making the most of every moment

If you believe the scriptures then you must respond to God's word with diligence and passion. We are either living God's word, attempting to live God's word or we are walking in opposition to God's word. In the law of the harvest, God's word speaks about personal diligence and our expectations.

To the diligent, God promises reward (Luke 16:10-12) but to the lazy God promises pain and destruction (Luke 12:42-48). Daily, we have a choice to live for God fully and follow the leading of His Spirit and His Scriptures. We can chose diligence and sow the seeds of life that will produce fruit or we chose laziness and sow the seeds of death that produce nothing but confusion and pain. Choose wisely ... choose life and sow into your future with tough decisions and actions today.

So how do we sow the seeds of life? The first step is to start your day with God. You don't have to complicate things with the pressure of doing this or that but you do need to acknowledge God and receive His wisdom, peace, grace and love (Proverbs 3:5-6). Next, do what He tells you. I can't tell you what that means to you but I know what it is for me. This is the simply plan for sowing seeds of life ... follow God and His leading, listen, obey and act!

Friend, it is time for you to seize life! Take life by the horns before it takes you with it's horns. We all face struggles and challenges but each must be looked at as an opportunity to grow in God and not as some impossible challenge. Sow the seeds of life and life we reproduce all around you. Stop complaining and start praising! Do life with passion and enjoy the harvest of a life well-lived.
