Your Heavenly Job Description
Passing Down Jesus!
Greetings!

This week, I had the pleasure of hiring a new member of the Covenant Team. As part of the hiring process, we discussed mission, vision, culture and, of course, the job description. Job descriptions are created and shared to provide expectations and guidance. As I was reflecting about life during thanksgiving, I thought about my job description from Heaven.

Psalm 139 tells us that we are made on purpose. God could have "knit us together" in our mom's womb any way He wanted and He did ... He made you, you. This tells us that we are made on purpose.

Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are made "for good works" and that we should "walk in them". Ephesians tells me that we are made for a purpose! When we combine these two scriptures together they state that I am made for a specific set of tasks ... i am made on purpose - for a purpose! Sounds like Heaven has a plan and a job description for each of us!

Bragging On God

1 I will exalt you, my God the King;  I will praise your name for ever and ever.  2 Every day I will praise you  and extol your name for ever and ever.  3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.  4 One generation will commend your works to another;  they will tell of your mighty acts.  5 They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.  6 They will tell of the power of your awesome works,  and I will proclaim your great deeds.  7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness  and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

~ Psalm 145:1-7 ~

Tell, Speak, Celebrate and Proclaim God's Work!

Psalm 145 is a song of King David. In this portion of the psalm, David was "bragging" about God and His work in his life. David also sheds heavenly light on our human condition and task.

David begins the psalm with personal application of his "heavenly job description". He  exalts God, He praises God, and He declares the greatness of the Lord! Next, David breaks from his personal worship stride and begins to prophesy "heaven's job description" for every Christ follower.

Friend, the torch has been passed. It is part of your fiber and your heavenly job description to brag on God. You are to tell the world of His goodness, grace, love and might. This may seem wierd or difficult but it is actually quite simple.

Much of our procastination to brag about God is our limited perspective of His hand on our life. James 1:16-18 states it this way,

"Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

If there is anything good that happens in your life it is from God. When someone tells me that I have preached a good message or written a good devo I quickly let them know that if they like it or think it is good then it's from God. However, if they don't like it then its all me! No joke, we need to change our perspective and simply share the great work that God is doing in our lives.  Take your heavenly job description to tell, speak, celebrate and proclaim God seriously ... Heaven is!

Pass the torch ...

Pass down Jesus!
