In Philippians 4, Paul gives the follower of Jesus keys to victory in the fight of faith. The first is in verse 4 - Rejoice! We are to be happy and joy filled because we are God's own possession and child. This brings great joy and joy defeats the mind field of defeat, discouragement and doubt! So, in your fight ... rejoice! Get excited about what God has done in and through you.
Next, Paul encourages followers not to be anxious but to trust God. Anxiety looks for answers. Trust finds answers in Christ alone. So, pray and ask God for the answers that He alone has for your life and purpose. This defeats the mine of doubt and disbelief and calls for trust and faith.
Paul's last encouragement is for us to completely change out our mind. This is the equivalent of not only destroying the mines but bringing in new dirt! God so much desires our victory that He will help us change out our minds. Here is the catch ... He needs your help.
God is not a genie. He is not going to grant magical wishes. No, He desires for you to walk out you faith and to destroy the minefields with your mind. This is the ultimate shame on the enemy and his desire to control your mind. Instead, you are giving your mind to God and your thoughts are lining up with His. This is blessed peace and joy!
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things." Friend, to destroy the minefield of Satan we need to change out our minds and we do this through meditation on the "good stuff".
This week, take time to look for and think about the good things God has placed in your path. Then, really think about them. Don't just give them a passing thought but deeply think on them. This meditation will defeat the enemy's plan to destroy you using your own mind. As you think on the good stuff you will receive the God stuff and the enemy will be defeated!
