God has people everywhere
... Trusting God's Providence and Provision |

Greetings!
I am a James Bond fan. This week, the family and I went to watch Quantum of Solace and I got my Bond fix. One of the early scenes in the movie included a villain under arrest and near torture. As the villain was being interrogated he said, "I am not worried - we have people everywhere". At that instant, one of the guards, a supposed good-guy, began shooting the "real" good guys and the villain escaped.
Friend, life is not like the movies but I will tell you that God does have "people everywhere". The Bible tells us in Psalm 139 that God knows the number and content of all our days. Proverbs 16:9 states that "man plans his course but the Lord determines his steps." God is in control and uses each of us as He chooses in His ministry. Often, this ministry is without our knowledge as we are simply obedient, faithful and complete our duties. But, don't let this lull you into thinking that God is not using you. No, even in the most mundane of tasks God is there. God has people everywhere!

Don't Worry ... God has someone in place
7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat." 9 So they said to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare?" 10 And He said to them, "Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. 11 Then you shall say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"' 12 Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready." 13 So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.

Trusting God's Providence and Provision
What would you do if Jesus asked you what he asked Peter and John? Would you think of Jesus in the James Bond role of setting up drops, contacts and arranging hidden meetings? Unfortunately, I think many Christians don't think God moves like that anymore. We trust God for big things like eternal life and healing but limit Him on our daily interactions and mundane tasks. Friend, God is in the details. He has people everywhere for your provision and He created you for the provision of others! We need to trust Him fully and simply say ... Yes!
The truth from Luke 22 is that God has people everywhere and He uses them to comfort, direct, encourage, disciple, lead, and initiate. One of the great mysteries of serving God is not knowing how our living has impacted others. We must simply be aware that God may call on us, at any time and in any circumstance, to be His "person". In fact, I beleive He does this mostly without our awareness!
God has placed you where you are for "such a time as this". You are like the men in Luke 22. Maybe you are the disciple obeying the Lord, or the man dutifully carrying out his duties collecting water, or the house owner providing the room. I don't know the details of your life but God does and if it is a fact that He has people everywhere and you are one of His people then you are being used by God in ministry. It is a beautiful equation that God writes and executes in the great adventure of life.
I ask you to look at life through different lenses. I am asking you to enjoy the adventure of serving Jesus by enlisting as one of His people to do His will. Again, you may never know where it leads. Do you think the man carrying the pitcher knew he would be recorded in Scripture? Do you think the homeowner knew He was providing the place for the Last Supper of Jesus Christ? God knew! And He knows how to use you to accomplish His purpose of encouraging others and representing His Kingdom! Remember, He has people everywhere and you are blessed to be one of them. Enjoy the adventure!
