Heed the Right of Way ...
How to stay safe on the road of life. October 28, 2008
Greetings!

My daughter, Shelby, is a student driver. No, you don't have to stop driving but do be on the lookout for a large blue or burgundy SUV! Shelby is actually doing very well but does need constant reminders of safe driving techniques.

Last week, Shelby was driving with her mother through a crowded parking lot. Shelby assumed that she had the right of way at an interesction because she had it going the opposite direction (I know it confuses me as well). When her mother shouted "what are you doing" as Shelby blew through the intersection, Shelby simply stated, "I have the right of way". After God's parting of the vehicles, Mom calmed down and asked, "what happens if you are coming the other way?" Shelby stated, "I have the right of way that way too!" Kim was floored and instructed Shelby about the impossibility of having the right of way no matter where you are driving! Lesson learned.

Sometimes we live as if we always have the right of way. There is only One that is always Right and His name is Jesus! Our King and Savior always has the right of way but we often live like we do!

Remember... it's Yahweh not Your Way

12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

~ Proverbs 14:12 ~

You are safe with God in control

Life is full of obstacles, challenges and opportunities. Daily, hourly and minute by minute you have a choice to make about the content and direction of your life. Choose to live for Jesus! Choose to submit to God and give Him both authority and control. Give God the "right of way". Guess what? He has it anyway.

Life is better when God is in control. The Bible tells story after story about men and women who gave God the "right of way" and, conversely, those who lived like they always had the "right of way".  Follow the Godly example of Jesus who always yielded authority to the Father. He accomplished this by first yielding to the Spirit! Do the same and you will be blessed and find safety and peace on the road of life.

Here are some steps you can take this week to give God the "right of way":
  1. Read God's Word daily for insight and inspiration ... Learn the rules of the Road.
  2. Ask and Thank God for direction and guidance ... Receive instruction for your Driving Coach.
  3. Obey the leading of God's Spirit ... Obey the Rules of the Road and the Driving Coach.
For King and Kingdom,
