There are many benefits to networking but there are a lot of challenges as well. Here are some of the challenges and how to face them.
- Go to events where you can "learn' something to improve your business. There are groups out there that address business growth, but they are few in number.
- Avoid self-promotion, work to build relationships, concentrate on the other person and showing interest.
- Try to seek shelter from "interrupters". Many networkers forget their manners.
- Make appointments with other attendees to meet again.
- Arrive early, assume the role of greeter.
- Stay late, that's when all the "action" takes place.
- Choose networking events wisely. In any given day, there are dozens of networking events.
- In this region, there are over a dozen regularly scheduled networking events. There are four or five Chambers of Commerce and fifteen networking groups with more on the way.
