Greetings!

How was your Father's Day?  I hope it was a special day for dad and that you relaxed and enjoyed it too.

We had a busy Father's Day weekend pampering dads, father in-laws and husbands!
I know you are comfortable receiving massage and spa services but there are some men who don't feel comfortable.   That's why our in home spa service is a hit with the guys too! He can relax and rejuvenate in familiar surroundings.
If your guy is still hesitant, start him out with a hour long foot massage and scalp massage where he doesn't have to disrobe.   Trust me, once he starts to unwind he'll get the hang of it and be joining you for treatments.

Now summer is in full swing, you are most likely preparing for your family vacation.   With heightened airport security and gas price hikes, it can be more rewarding to stay home and enjoy a stay-cation.  There are so many great things to see and do around Los Angeles, after all.

This was the thought of a new client who has just arranged for me and my team of 6 to provide spa treatments at his home for his big annual family reunion.  He usually rents a house, three hours drive away but this year he decided to stay home and invite his family members to his home for a spa day!  Their family consists of 3 little girls, 4 teens and 12 adults. We discussed a menu of spa services for everyone.
The little girls will receive chocolate or strawberry facials, mini manicures and pedicures. The teens will enjoy neck and shoulder massages, a reward for studying, deep cleansing facials and foot massages. The adults will relish full body massages, foot massages, manicures, pedicures and facials!   I can't wait to see the faces of the little ones and hear the oohs and ahhhhs from the other family members as the tension melts away.  What a great way to relax, bond and enjoy each others company.

Here's another stay-cation idea. If the kids are at camp for a couple of weeks, take advantage and create some quality time for you and your loved one and enjoy side by side massages.   We bring fresh linens, music, candles and set up our massage tables on your deck, by your pool, in your living room or your bedroom. Just imagine, a whole day or evening to wind down and relax with no interruptions.  Bliss.  Just the two of you!

Let's not forget the graduates out there!  Say well done and gift him or her with a relaxing spa treatment.

Make the time for yourself in a meaningful way. This balance of giving and receiving is essential to keeping your energy, mood and motivation at a consistently high level.

Open daily 9am - 9pm.

An Old-Fashioned Remedy.

                      The Miracle Cure-Epsom Salts.

Enjoy an amazing home spa remedy between your
massage & spa treatments!

                        epsom salt

Want a remedy for achy, tired feet?  Perhaps you have sore muscles from your workout.  Pick up a bag of Epsom Salts from the grocery store and all you need is some warm water.  This old-fashioned remedy has been around for what seems forever; long before all the products of today.  Epsom Salts can be used to relieve aches & pains plus if you rub it on your body after a luxurious bath, it becomes a natural exfoliate revealing radiant silky skin.

Perhaps you are in the kitchen and your hands are rough or dry, you can keep a jar of Epsom Salts with grape-seed oil by the sink.  This same mixture can be used on your face as well.

Who would have imagined a small bag of salt could be such a benefit to the body.  Below are a couple more ideas to pamper yourself with some old-fashioned treatments:

Bath Time: take a relaxing soak in warm water with 2 cups of Epsom Salt.

Foot Bath: Soothe aches, soften rough skin by adding cup Epsom Salt to warm water and soak feet.  Rinse and dry feet.

Don't have time for your own foot bath? We can add Epsom salts soak to your next in home spa pedicure!

Homemade Facial Mask: Apply the mask to damp skin. For normal to oily skin, mix 1 tablespoon of cognac, 1 egg, 1/4 cup of non-fat dry milk, the juice of 1 lemon, and a half-teaspoon of Epsom salt. For normal to dry skin, mix 1/4 cup of grated carrot, 1 1/2 teaspoons of mayonnaise and a half-teaspoon of Epsom salt.

Hot water draws toxins out of the body to the skin's surface, and while the water cools it pulls toxins from the skin, according to Naturopath Dr. Hazel Parcells. Epsom salts augment this detoxification by causing you to sweat. Other salts-all highly alkaline and cleansing-used in baths include sea salt, baking soda, clay, and Dead Sea salts.

Basic Salt Soak Bath Formula
Minerals and salts make the bath water feel silky and leave your skin cleansed and soft.

1 cup sea salts
2 cups baking soda
1 cup Epsom salts
1 to 2 tablespoons glycerin per bath

Combine the sea salts, baking soda, and Epsom salts in a bowl. Stir to blend. Pour 1/4 cup or so into the bath while the tub is filling. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons glycerin to keep your skin from drying out (more for dry skin, less for oily skin) and essential oils of choice.  Note mix essential oils to salts first as they blend better.  If you add the essential oils to bath water they tend to sit on top of the water.

Preparation time: 2 to 3 minutes
Shelf life: Indefinite
Storage: Glass jar with a screw top

Caution: Do not take hot baths and salt baths (including Epsom salt baths) if you have heart trouble, high blood pressure, or are diabetic or pregnant.

Pick up a bag or box of Epsom Salts and relax!

About Serve The Goddess

Helen Hodgson founded Serve The Goddess Mobile Spa Services in 2000 after working for years in spas where she met busy clients LIKE YOU frustrated that they were spending too much time driving to & from the spa.

We come to you so you can relax in the privacy of your home where the surroundings are familiar with no parking, no drive home and no traffic.

Helen also worked with groups of women celebrating a special occasion like a birthday, birth of a baby, or a wedding. As is typical in a spa location, spa guests are treated in separate rooms but the women Helen met were disappointed by that. They wanted to be in the same room so they could bond with their girlfriends & have fun! Sound familiar?

Share a day of spa indulgence with your girlfriends. Save precious time by bringing them all together so that you can catch up and enjoy each others' company.

We have been serving Los Angeles County, South Bay, Orange County & the Inland Empire since 2000.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week. Keep balanced stress free and happy!
