  The "Fall" Back Into the Groove Edition

Autumn 2010
Greetings!

Farewell, summer.  Hello, autumn.  TOFINO

It's an overdue update since spring's Mother's Day message.  It's been almost six months since I lost my mom to cancer and I still find it strange she's not here.  March 6th she was raising the Irish flag at Toronto City Hall and a month later she was gone.

While it's been a difficult stretch I am blessed to be surrounded by loving family, friends and colleagues.  Thanks to all who sent messages of support.

She was an inspiration - Read here

Peggy would also have been the first to say that the show must go on!  This newsletter will provide some of those details with projects taken on in the interim.

By summer's arrival we needed to get away.  I, along with my amazing wife, Marlene, daughter, Teaghan (4), and son, Dillon (2), spent five weeks enjoying the Canadian Rockies, Vancouver Island and spots closer to home for a wonderful, therapeutic trip.

KENNEDYS CanCon Camelot
My mother was a huge fan of the Kennedy family so I'm certain she pulled divine intervention for me to get an audition and subsequent part in 'The Kennedys' miniseries filming in and around Toronto.

I play a reporter awaiting the arrival of the President and First Lady in Dallas 24 hours before the fateful November day in 1963.

The 8-part series is slated for broadcast in early 2011 on History Television, in Canada, and The History Channel stateside.  The big budget production stars Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes.

Above, Kelly is getting me 1960's-fied for the roll.  I haven't parted my hair like that since my dad did it.

Stick out your tongue           Medical Team
say "temporomandibular"
Let me tell you, voicing multi-syllabic medical and
pharmaceutical terminology is not for the faint of heart.

And, if your heart is a little wobbly just keep in mind to
focus on supporting systemic hemodynamics and protecting the myocardium from ischemic damage by increasing myocardial oxygen supply and decreasing myocardial oxygen demand. Basically:  breathe, pronounce, don't pass out (repeat).

These were some of the products, technologies, treatments and/or conditions I spoke for in the past few months:

    * Gleevek
    * Novartis
    * Amylin
    * Recothrom
    * ReSTOR Lens
    * Rheumatoid Arthritis
    * Colonoscopy Administration
    * Paccocath Technology
    * MRI Instrumentation

 You Need It By When?!  stopwatch
Just two weeks before our lengthy summer hiatus commenced I was commissioned to pull off not one, but two large scale projects totaling close to 25 hours of finished voice over!

Both were e-learning behemoths.  One was a 300-page manual that dealt with securities investing & taxation.  The other was an equipment and operational tutorial for a utilities company.  You learn something new every day.

Both put the ol' myocardium through the ringer but we made our flight in time.

Neumann What a Character !
When not tackling medical, technical or financial manuals for recording, I had a chance to morph into some animated and interesting characters.

I got behind the microphone to play a hillbilly farmer and a maniacal artist in separate episodes of the forthcoming children's animated show Pirates.

I also fine tuned my Bavarian accent to "interpret" for WWII German tank commander, Hans Kauert, for History Television's Greatest Tank Battles.
