GOOD NEWS STORIES - SUMMER BETTER THAN OTHERS! |

|
Greetings! |
I hope things are good on your end and that you'll have an opportunity for some rest and relaxation this summer.
The blood, sweat and tears of voice over and on-camera demands over the past two months, plus a winter that kept on giving, precipitated a get-out-of-Dodge mode (or Toronto in this case). So, since I last touched base, we touched down in Orlando for a week. It was a "magical" experience indeed. Walt certainly mapped out a wonderful world featuring a non-stop production of shows, parades, rides, fireworks and of course everyone from Mickey to Tigger! "Why of course sweetheart! What's 45 to 60 minutes in another line-up to get a hug and photo with (insert character here)?"

Can you tell I was feeling Goofy?

IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL! |
Whether it's for Disney or another production company, voice acting for kids' projects is always fun. Recording character voices for animation and narrating educational programs leads the hit parade (of lights) in this issue:
* * * * * * * * * 'Rockin' Robin' DVD - now available. To help children learn Spanish yours truly narrates the part of a silly bird, er, pjaro. 'Moving up with Literacy' Scholastic Education program - School distribution: fall '08 across Canada. 'Gotta Catch Santa' - I voiced the official promo for this forthcoming festive special which features the inimitable William Shatner as Saint Nick. Already? I know, we're closer to last Christmas than the next one. Captain James T. Claus will add to the fun though! 'Grossology' - Recently cast again for a couple of quick characters, such as 'The Chef', for this program. (logo pictured)

REWARDING & AWARDING |
 I was happy to offer pro bono services as narrator for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital DVD, 'The X-Files', which was awarded a silver prize at the 41st annual WorldFest International Film & Video Festival competition several weeks ago in Houston, with over 4,500 entries from 37 countries. The video promotes the 'Project X-Ray Campaign' to purchase new equipment for the hospital's radiology suites. 'The X-Files' was also recognized recently at the international Videographer Awards with an Award of Excellence. * Congratulations Brian Purdy, Producer/Director MEDIAIMAGE Communications Group for his vision. X-Ray vision? Well, the man is super. ( I'll stop now before it's too late) |

* IN TRIBUTE * |
The Canadian broadcast & voice over community recently lost two remarkable members too soon. Both of these colleagues were taken by cancer days after their respective birthdays: Chris "Punch" Andrews (1965-2008) (MIX 99.9 - Toronto) Marc Chambers (1956-2008) (1050 CHUM - Toronto / The Weather Network ) Two of the most positive spirits you could ever meet. They inspired. They are truly missed. Peace gentlemen. | |
