Greetings! Happy October! Fall is definitely upon us! Cool, crisp nights, and warm, sunny days - perfect apple weather! Even if you missed our Apple Harvest Festivals, fear not - there are LOTS of apples still to be picked this season! Read on - Pink Lady apples will be available beginning this weekend. Also, October means hayrides every weekend! The Carter Mountain Bakery is cranking out the apple cider donuts and pies. It's a great time to come to the mountain! Thanks to all who attended our Apple Harvest Festivals the past two weekends. A special shout out goes to those of you who showed up (in droves!) last Saturday in the POURING down rain! We sure made the most of it! Some of the craft vendors and musicians will be coming back this weekend, since last Saturday was too wet. We will have some music both days this coming weekend, and some crafts and food, too. The weather forecast is perfect - cool and sunny - just right for apple picking Can't make it this weekend? Not to worry, Carter Mountain Orchard is open everyday! We are currently offering a wonderful selection of all things apple! Pick-Your-Own and pre-picked apples, fresh apple cider, apple butter, apple pie, apple cider donuts - you name it! Be sure to check out the offerings in our country store - craft items, jams and jellies, an expanded line of gourmet food products, and much more. We offer hayrides every weekend in October, weather permitting. Enjoy the spectacular 40 mile view from our 2 observation decks - and don't forget your camera! Carter Mountain Orchard is located on Route 53 next to Michie Tavern and Monticello, in Charlottesville VA. We are open every day 9AM-6PM. Please visit our website for directions from your area. For those of you who have been waiting patiently (or impatiently!), the time is here. Pick Your Own Pink Lady begins this Saturday! Get 'em while they last! We will also have plenty of Winesap, Stayman, Granny Smith, and Fuji apples to pick. This should be our peak picking weekend, so come on out! No time or inclination to pick your own? We've got the answer. Check out our bins of convenient, pre- picked apples. Golden Delicous, Red Delicous, Stayman, Winesap, Fuji, Crispin, Rome, Gala, and more.......buy 'em by the pound or the bushel!
Seeking that perfect pumpkin? Look no further - we have the most awesome selection around! Make your Halloween special with one or more of our amazing pumpkins. Enjoy a cup of cider (cold or warm) while you visit, and grab a gallon or two to take home. Did you know you can freeze apple cider? Stock up on your visit, so you have some for the holiday season. Just let a little bit out of the container, re- seal, and pop in the freezer. Thaw in the refrigerator a day or two before you need it, and voila, fresh cider! What's more fun in the fall than a scenic hayride through our beautiful orchard? Buy your tickets at our Information Station, or from any cashier (no charge for little ones under 2) and see our orchard from a different perspective. See you on the mountain!!!! |
