Thanksgiving Centerpieces

The cornucopia is the traditional centerpiece for autumn as it symbolizes abundance, and boundless love and generosity. It can be found on dinner tables throughout the country, especially at Thanksgiving.
You may not know that the cornucopia was symbolic prior to the creation of the Thanksgiving holiday. It dates back to the 5th Century B.C and is derived from two Latin words: "cornu" meaning horn and "copia" meaning plenty - or "horn of plenty." The terms are often used interchangeably.
In those times, the cornucopia was usually depicted as a curved goat's horn overflowing with fruit and grain. However, it could actually be filled with whatever the owner wished. Today, the cornucopia is often found as a centerpiece on the Thanksgiving table. Typically, it's in the form of a woven, slightly curving, conical basket that is filled with fresh flowers, and/or fruits and vegetables. As traditions change, however, so can the designs of cornucopias Some of the most unique cornucopias I've seen are not made out of grapevine, but rather gold mesh ribbon as well as wire. It certainly gives a 21st Century look to a 5th century symbol. Let me help you make the cornucopia a part of your Thanksgiving tradition. If you already have a basket, I can help you fill it with flowers and fruit. If you would like me to create a cornucopia just for you, possibly with the 21st Century look using gold mesh or wire, just let me know. A horn of plenty also makes a great gift, if you can't get together with your family for this year's Thanksgiving feast.
Floral arrangements filled with fall flowers also are great centerpieces. There are a variety of options to choose from. Give me a call at 303-693-3840 and we can discuss your options. |
Gift Giving Office-style
Oh, that dreaded time of shopping for holiday gifts for your co-workers, clients and employees is almost here. But don't stress out. Try to make it fun. It's a great time to learn more about your co-workers and to get into the holiday spirit.
Here are some ways to reduce your stress and enjoy the season of giving.
First, determine if there is a company policy or if there are any unwritten office traditions regarding gift-giving. Some companies limit the amount of money that can be spent on gifts - a guideline that should be strictly adhered to.
Second, take a minute to thoughtfully consider the recipients of your gifts. Think about their hobbies or their favorite foods. If you don't know this information, this would be a great opportunity to get to know your co-workers a little bit better. Find out about their likes and dislikes. You never know what great gift idea might come up during this conversation.
Gifts that complement someone's hobbies are always a great idea. Other successful gifts are those that can be shared, such as gift baskets filled with goodies. Popular items for these baskets include coffees, wines, candy, fruit and gourmet treats. Flowers, plants and holiday wreaths are also well received gift items.
Try to relax and have fun this gift-giving season. Let me do the work for you.I have excellent gift ideas. For instance, this Poinsettia Basket is a wonderful gift that keeps on giving. It's available in 2 sizes. The small one is $57.75 and the large basket is $115.
