IMCA EGM Approves Class Rule Change To Rule C.9.7
|
At the Extraordinary General Meeting of the IMCA World Council held on Tuesday 12 January the proposal to change Class Rule C.9.7 (forestay system) was formally approved by the meeting. The rule change has subsequently been approved by ISAF and is now in force. Also discussed at the EGM were proposed changes to the system for checking crew weights.

Melges 24 Wins Bundaburg Rum Australian National Sportsboat Championship

The Melges 24 Roger That, owned and raced by Sydney yachtsmen James Mayjor and John Bacon with Cameron Miles on the helm and Craig Pocklington on mainsheet, put in a stellar performance at January's Bundaburg Rum Australian National Sportsboat Championship in Geelong winning six of the eight races on their way to the podium. Austrian Open To Be Held On Lake Traunsee 13-16 May

2010 US Nationals Confirmed For 25-27 June in Newport |
The U.S. Melges 24 Class Association and the Melges 24 Northeast District are excited to announce the selection of Newport, R.I. as the location for the 2010 Melges 24 U.S. National Championship, hosted by Sail Newport. Racing will take place over three days from 25-27 June with registration, weigh-ins, clinics and practice racing beginning on Thursday, June 24.

Santini's Uka Uka Celebrates Back To Back Key West Titles, Hulsey Named Top Corinthian

Key West 2010 brought some classic Melges 24 racing to open the 2010 North American season and Lorenzo Santini's Uka Uka Racing Team made it two in a row beating Franco Rossini's Blu Moon and Alan Field aboard WTF. In the Corinthian Division Paul Hulsey put together an impressive series including an overall win in the second race.

Guy Mossman Wins Key West Match Race Invitational |
In his first-ever attempt at match race sailing, Charleston-based Guy Mossman has won the 2nd annual Key West Match Race Invitational, organized by the Chicago Match Race Center (CMRC). On the strength of superior boathandling of his Melges 24 in the fresh 15-20 knot breezes and short 15-minute race courses, Mossman and his team of Mike Buckley, Skip Baxter, Ben Allen, and Danielle Soriano dominated the event.
