Bishop Bernie L. Wade speaks on the confusion around the religious group claiming that they have interpreted the bible to say that Jesus is coming on May, 21st 2011.
"Ok. I am going to go on record on this May 21st thing. The Bible does NOT say the end will begin on May 21st 2011. This is pure junk. This is a blight on the Church having such quacks claiming to speak for Christ. You can feel free to contact me on May 22nd because we will all be here. I am actually shocked that people are so poorly taught that they would fall for this kind of quackery. This is really sad. I am not moved by the apparent fact that this group is not asking for money.
In the book of Acts Simon the Sorcerer offered month to the Apostles. Simon (also known as Simon Magnus) believed and was baptized. Outwardly he was a Christian but his belief was only superficial and he was still a pagan at heart. He coveted the apostolic office and saw the opportunity of using Christianity to make money - a business corporation masquerading as the church of Christ!!
Every few years since the Resurrection of Christ we have some person or group contend or pretend that they have revelation on the end time and that Jesus is coming because they alone have some new light or understanding. These almost always compound their errors by setting a date for the coming of Jesus, the end of the world, the beginning of the Great Tribulation or some like interpretation.
These people who are offering this "New Revelation" on the Coming of Christ, though they may be well intentioned are causing confusion that will cause people to mock Christ, Christianity and the Church. People will equate all followers of Jesus Christ with this mess. And trust me, it will be a mess. On May 22nd, 2011 when the "doom and gloom' prophets (or is it profits?) are exposed as frauds there will be a mockery of them, their methods their pseudo theology, and more. Make no mistake Jesus Christ is coming back. He is coming back after people who have made themselves ready, without spot, without blemish, without wrinkle. When He does return we are to be ready." |
