"You must understand one thing: I have
sacrificed what I could have achieved
personally for one game only: to create
teachers in the West. My sharing of this yoga
is to teach humans the ultimate science of mankind. It is priceless. It is the concentrated essence of thousands of years of humanity.
I am here to preserve it in your hearts so
that it will be available later on when
humanity will need it more badly than
you or I can imagine."

                 SUMMER SOLSTICE SADHANA
             CELEBRATION FEATURED TEACHER
                              Shakta Kaur

Sat Nam,

It's true that this time of year has me turning towards Summer Solstice ... both physically and spiritually. Years back when I first read what Yogi Bhajan had said about the Solstices-'Revolve your life around summer and winter solstice and everything will be taken care of,' I thought to myself, 'I wonder if that will ever happen! I can say that it has. My soul, my being, my essence needs the annual cleansing power of both the Summer and Winter Solstice.  And, there is no better place to be than in the company of over 2,000 like-minded yogis during Summer Solstice at Ram Das Puri!

This year the 3HO IKYTA Teachers Conference on Friday, June 15, focuses on the theme of 'grit.'  This comes from Yogi Bhajan's 'Eight Elements of Excellence.'*  Even if you're not a Kundalini Yoga teacher, come to enjoy yoga, meditation and community with yogis from all over the globe at the Teachers Conference. It is open to all! Plus, you'll also learn how to prepare physically, mentally and emotionally to have the 'grit' of a spiritual warrior for whatever challenges might come your way once you leave Summer Solstice and are back in your daily world of work and family.

At the 'Lunar Woman, Solar Man and Relationships' workshop on Sunday, June 18, Hari Charn Kaur Khalsa and I focus on how woman's basic nature is like the moon which waxes and wanes, while man's basic nature is like the sun which is continuous and constant. The moon reflects the sun. And, if there is no moon to reflect, the woman becomes the 'full moon' to reflect herself.  The yoga set in this class is especially chosen to 'Welcome Happiness and Success and Expel Grief and Guilt.'  We want to move out of the way OF whatever no longer serves us in our relationships.  And, we'll share how women can learn to chart their own moon center cycle. (By the way, this session is appropriate for everyone-singles or couples.)

As I prepare for Summer Solstice I realize that my computer desk actually faces 'west' ... towards New Mexico!  On a more subtle level I find that my inner self is preparing for the spiritual upliftment, unfolding and community that the sacred land of Ram Das Puri always provides at this time of year.  I look forward to seeing you there!

The Lunar Woman, Solar Man & Relationships

Woman's basic nature is like the moon which waxes and wanes; man's basic nature is like the sun which is continuous and constant. Increase your awareness about the core strengths of the masculine and feminine energies. Embrace your form as a man or woman while enjoying the cosmic play of the genders within and without!

Shakta Kaur co-owns Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) in downtown Chicago with her husband, Hari Dev Singh (www.shaktakaur.com; 312-922-4699). She travels and teaches extensively in both the US and internationally. She teaches Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, Breathwalk® and Level 1 Teacher Training courses in the US and internationally.
