Playa Animal Rescue Has a New Vet!

Congratulations and a huge welcome to MVZ. Mauricio Ramirez Juarez!  Dr. Juarez has accepted the position as PAR's in-house veterinarian and he will officially start on August 20th.  He will live on site at the new PAR shelter in an apartment that was built especially for this reason.  Now PAR's rescue dogs can receive 24-hour attention and immediate emergency care as needed.  Dr. Juarez is very well qualified, shares PAR's vision of the future, and will be a wonderful addition to the new shelter.  Please join PAR volunteers and our shelter dogs in welcoming Dr. Juarez...Bienvenidos!

Now PAR will have a greater opportunity to rescue even more abused and abandoned dogs.  Every single rescued animal receives a thorough evalutaion and necessary medical care.  Having an in-house vet is the ideal solution!  However, there are ongoing needs for medicines and medical supplies...and you can help!  Please consider a donation to PAR's vet fund and help us rescue more dogs.  The more support we have, the more animals we can save...it's that simple!

Rescue Update
Canela Is a Trooper!

Canela was found by a kind local who has taken care of her for nearly two months. Canela's condition has improved greatly and she is now residing at the PAR
shelter. PAR will give her all the care and love she needs so she can continue healing before making the trip to her new home in the spring. Canela is a distemper survivor and will always have a 'tick' in her movements. Nevertheless, she is a happy dog and has responded well to all the love she has received. She will need surgery on her back legs. Please consider a donation to help with these costs. Your support is greatly appreciated and Canela thanks you..whoof, whoof!

PAR's Featured Pet is Max...
Meet Max, one of the sweetest, kindest dogs we've ever known.   He is an adult male Sharpei mix with only three legs. He is approximately five years old and weighs 48 lbs.  Max has been waiting for a forever home for a very long time...he has been a shelter dog most of his life and was probably on the streets prior to that.  Max so needs a loving "PAR Parent" to give him a furever home with tons of love.  He deserves to know what it's like...it's possible he's never had that.

Please contact Playa Animal Rescue if you are interested in adopting or fostering Max.
