The Same Canoe Community Garden Project at One Island is hosting classes of interest to all growers - farmers and gardeners alike. There are three classes coming up we think you may be interested in learning about:
 
Got Dirt? Soil Building with Gerry Hebert and Bob Shaffer.
 
Garden Volunteering - how farmers can link up with their local school and make a significant impact. Hosted by Nancy Redfeather.
 
Beyond Organic - analyzing soil and food to find the highest possible nutrition with Jana Bogs.

Friday, April 20th, 9-noon
 
Building Soil - that is every garden's mantra in West Hawaii. Come learn some proven techniques that use local inputs at the lowest costs possible. Gerry Hebert and Bob Shaffer will lead us in an exploration of creating soil at the lovely Kawanui Farm in Honalo. Optional B.Y.O. picnic lunch will be followed by the afternoon workshop with Nancy Redfeather.
 

Community Garden Volunteering

How can we build a network of volunteers to help our school and non-profit community gardens thrive year round? Come discuss strategies for building this volunteer network. Learn about training opportunities on the horizon that help prepare volunteers to find lasting, rewarding involvement opportunities.
