Stories from the Heart

We all knew of her reputation as an "exacting" instructor; we also knew that her students raved about what they learned and how they were able to apply it. Two of them already had their books picked up by major publishers. What an incentive! To be accepted in this course, we had to handwrite or print a note stating our interests: namely, the desire to be a professional writer. Not sure what to expect, but ready to accept her assignments, some of us filled a whole page sharing our passion--others wrote only a few lines.

With a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eyes, and a lilt in her voice, she opened class with this:  "Good morning! I am Mrs. Selverson [Not her real name]. I am here to awaken the writer in you. Why? Because I feel a certain sense of satisfaction when I can drop names of well-known persons, and each of you, one day, may be the person about whom I casually state: 'Oh yes! I knew her when she was right out of college.' This course is designed only for those of you who will follow the requirements I set forth. On the application you submitted, each of you stated that you were taking this course in order to hone your skills and become a published author. To achieve that goal, I have several requirements.

"All the work you hand in must be handwritten, using the system I'm going to share with you. I teach nothing from what others may say is "best." I teach from my own experience and, as wise ones through the ages have stated, experience is the only reliable source of knowing."

At this point Mrs. S. handed each of us a sheet containing a handwritten printout of your alphabet followed by, "This is the writing system I adopted four years and have experienced its value; it is now yours to use. It works miracles." She gave us a brief talk about how the hand and brain work in unison and added: "When you practice your handwriting, homework or otherwise, do so in a quiet place: No music, no talking; no outside interference; a quiet place. It makes a significant difference."

I could go on and on here, but I'll be merciful and share only the periphery. Mrs. S. gave all of us the same three letters to practice (Ee, r and g) along with the initial of our first name. She explained, "These three letters are those of the creative writer; the initial of your first name, not nickname, represents the biggest lesson you are here to learn, an attitude that  may be holding you back. As you write it using the alphabet I have given you, it can remove that mental block. Practice all four letters each time you move your pen--until they feel natural. By the end of the semester, I want you to have written each of the 26 letters; handwriting your papers is a beautiful way to practice!"

Through the months she gave us quite a bit of guidance as we wrote, and wrote, and wrote! She also laughed with us as we laughed at ourselves when  our pens simply wouldn't behave. In the last class of our four-month "grammatical grind" as we called it, she stood in front of the class and actually applauded, declaring with a  bit of mischief in her voice, "Thank you for giving me the ability to be a future "name dropper!"--for not only one or two of you, but for every single one of  you. I am so proud! SO proud of you all!"

The point of this story is that in our class of fifteen, three have already had their articles accepted by major periodicals. They handwrote them before they transferred them into a computer--the latter being a requisite for submission. It's become a habit with most of us in the class to use your alphabet--not only because it feels good, but because so many people comment positively about it as well, and remember who we are because of it.

I'm having such a good time writing my book and seeing it grow and develop--sometimes it feels as though it's writing itself. Your alphabet has become a friend, if you will, Vimala. I'm loving it. All the letters are teaching me so much about myself, especially the letter Eee. Thank you sincerely. Once I finish my book and have it published I'll send you a copy--an autographed copy!

Thanks again.

What is the Vimala Alphabet  Vimala Rodgers

After years of study and research, Vimala Rodgers developed The Vimala Alphabet. Each letter shape is designed specifically to bring your hidden talents and abilities to life. As you begin to adopt self-affirming writing patterns, you naturally release those that are self-limiting, and at the same time you reconfigure the neurological patterns in your brain. This process is invaluable for people who are determined to let go of the past and stride ahead fully expressed in life. In scientific circles it is called neuroplasticity or cortical remapping.  All it takes is pen and paper.

Does it work? You bet it does! -- every time. Pick up your pen and experience it for yourself.

How to Begin

If you are among the courageous visionaries who want to transform their lives through the Vimala Alphabet technology, choose at least 3 letters:

  • The first letter is the initial of your first name - not nickname, but your real birth first name. If you adopted a new first name after your 35th birthday, use that as your first name. By writing this letter, you will experience profound personal changes.
  • The second letter is the Letter of the Week.
  • The third letter is one you have chosen in order to bring about a specific transformation in your life.  Choose a letter from the Vimala Alphabet Guidebook.

Follow these steps:

  1. Write at least 3 lines of upper and lowercase letters.
  2. Write on unlined paper in the landscape direction.
  3. No pencils, please. Use a pen.
  4. Begin by writing once, at the top of the page, the Declaration of Intent of the initial of your first name.
  5. Write the first and third letters for at least 40 consecutive days. If you skip a day, start over. 40 is the number of transformation; it takes 40 days for the neurons in the brain to realign themselves, which is what the process of adopting self-affirming handwriting patterns does.
  6.  Write the third letter for a single week.
Aspects of the Letters

Just as you have gifts unique to who you are, so does each letter. I call them "aspects." I'd like to begin our new venture by sharing one of those aspects, perhaps the most important one of all: the Guardian Protector.

Through the years I've studied hundreds of traditions throughout the world, and have found that within each one, there are such beings that we call called "angels" in English, yet are called by a different name in many traditions: devas in the scriptures of India, Al-Malaikah in the Qur'an of Islam, Malakh in the Hebrew Bible--and on and on throughout the world. To avoid religious distinctions, I call each one a Guardian Protector, because that is their role.

Trust me. They are as alive and attentive as you and I--just invisible, that's all--but fully present nonetheless. Create a conversation with them--then you will know. As with everything I teach, I insist that you do not believe what I say. To know in your heart of hearts that what I say is true, I suggest that you experience it by adopting suggested writing habits, along with applying the aspects of each letter, especially that of the Guardian Protector.

Letter of the Week - N n

Soul Quality: The Letter of Friendship.

True friendship is a rare gift, a priceless treasure in anyone's life. Most of us have friends yet few of us have one true friendship. The Letter Nnn, well drawn, exemplifies this precious relationship so clearly, one in which you have no expectations of the other person, loving and appreciating him exactly as he is--and having that returned 100-fold from a light and loving heart.

The pointed uppercase N brings out the quality of playfulness and, if you will, silliness at times. As you write it you may feel mental burdens evaporate and a certain lightness of heart coming through as you move the pen. I have had clients say it makes them want to get up and dance...clients who are not at all inclined to do that. If you tend to be on the shy side, a bit unsure of yourself, and yet want to be more outgoing in your personal relationships, begin by writing this N. Once it becomes effortless to do so, slip in this N now and again, remembering to create a v shape at the baseline.

Guardian Protector: Ramaela (Rah-MY-lah)-the angel of playfulness

Friendship is based on complete acceptance of another person exactly as he or she is. Ramaela makes sure that in this relationship you remember to remain lighthearted and appreciative. You may not agree on everything; you may even have quite different personalities--yet you may find yourself laughing in the same places. In a true friendship there is an underlying feeling of being loved and appreciated not for any particular reason other than for being exactly who you are, and returning that feeling effortlessly.

How to Inscribe the Most Self-Affirming Letter Nnn

Uppercase arcaded N

  • Inscribe it as you would the uppercase M, less one arcade.

Uppercase angular N

  • From the baseline, swoop to the top of the upper zone.
  • Create an inverted letter V and drop to the baseline with a diagonal stroke.
  • Finish with another upward swoop to the top of the upper zone, creating an angle at the baseline.

Lowercase n

  • Inscribe it as you would the lowercase m, less one arcade.

Please Join Us

Last year, several "Handwriters for Peace" members requested, and we formed, an Alphabetical Prayer Circle through which members could ask for specific prayers in emergency situations and we would hold both those intentions with our own intentions in our prayers.

Because it's time to expand the Circle, I'm inviting you to join us. There is no need to become a Handwriter for Peace, nor do you have to give me your name, only your e-mail address, as I send all Prayer Circle Emails as BCCs. If you choose to join us, please send an e-mail to vimala@vimalarodgers.com with PRAYER CIRCLE in the Subject Box and this message: I'd like to join your Alphabetical Prayer Circle.

To strengthen our intentions, each day we agree to spend a precious 10 seconds once---or many times a day---offering our Alphabetical Healing Prayer:

Fill each of us with Your Healing Light:
those of us in this Prayer Circle,
all those we love,
and all those we have difficulty loving.
Thank You.

Also...In the course of the day, each of us devotes a few minutes of quiet time to write, on unlined paper, one line of the initial of our first name (not nickname) in both upper- and lowercase. Just one line; that's it...more if you care to. Read more online...
