Stories from the Heart

I used to speak about people in a negative, kind of sarcastic way but I don't do that anymore. Boy do I have a story to tell! One day when I was at my best friend's house, her mother heard me talking about one their friends, and she took me by the arm and sat me at their dining room table. "Huh?" "Okay, Rory (not my real name), I want you to write down what you just said and sign your name. No one will see what you've written but me." Handwrite? Why? But I knew J's Mom well enough to know she's not the kind of person you question, so I took the pen and wrote three or four sentences as well as I could, and signed the paper. J's mom took it and asked if she could make some observations.

She told me she had read a book that told her why it would be good idea to change her handwriting, and although at first she thought it was "poppycock" (her expression), she said she did it for the heck of it just to see what might happen. She said she'd tell me later why she writes every single day and loves it---but for now... She looked at the note I had written and said she was going to give me two changes to start with, and if I was into it, she would show me how to practice them every day. She told me immediately that the number one change was to "clean up" my Ooos. They were filled inside with loops. She told me to write them clockwise and keep them clean and empty, and she told me what they meant. Ouch. As I wrote a few, my reaction was "This feels really weird!"

The second change she told me to start right away was to take the huge loops out of my d stems and retrace them instead. We practiced a few together. This was not easy! "But I like those loops!"

She laughed. "You'll be much happier without them, trust me!" Then she told me why. Ouch again. I started to write them the new way, slowly and deliberately, and she told me that the harder it was to change the way I write a letter, the more positive effect it would have. It sounded kind of spooky, but she's a very common sense person, and also really nice, so I agreed. She set a 40-day time period for me to write the Ooos, and to take those huge loops out of my d stems. She even said I could show her my writing practice whenever I came over to visit.

I'm writing this note to let you know that my very first sentence above describes how writing these two letters have changed how I feel about myself and how I relate to other people. Two periods of 40 days, writing every day, and I am NOT unkind and sarcastic anymore. Spooky maybe---but it feels like magic. When my mother began to notice changes in my behavior, I told her about the handwriting, and she spoke with my friend's mom. Funny thing. Now my mom is practicing her writing too! Thank you so much for sharing what you know about the letters --- and we love your newsletter!

What is the Vimala Alphabet?  Vimala Rodgers

After years of study and research, Vimala Rodgers developed The Vimala Alphabet. Each letter shape is designed specifically to bring your hidden talents and abilities to life. As you begin to adopt self-affirming writing patterns, you naturally release those that are self-limiting, and at the same time you reconfigure the neurological patterns in your brain.  This process is invaluable for people who are determined to let go of the past and stride ahead fully expressed in life.  In scientific circles it is called neuroplasticity or cortical remapping.  All it takes is pen and paper.

Does it work? You bet it does! -- every time. Pick up your pen and experience it for yourself.

How to Begin

If you are among the courageous visionaries who want to transform their lives through the Vimala Alphabet technology, choose at least 3 letters:

  • The first letter is the initial of your first name - not nickname, but your real birth first name. If you adopted a new first name after your 35th birthday, use that as your first name. By writing this letter, you will experience profound personal changes.
  • The second letter is the Letter of the Week.
  • The third letter is one you have chosen in order to bring about a specific transformation in your life.  Choose a letter from the Vimala Alphabet Guidebook.

Follow these steps:

  1. Write at least 3 lines of upper and lowercase letters.
  2. Write on unlined paper in the landscape direction.
  3. No pencils, please. Use a pen.
  4. Begin by writing once, at the top of the page, the Declaration of Intent of the initial of your first name.
  5. Write the first and third letters for at least 40 consecutive days. If you skip a day, start over. 40 is the number of transformation; it takes 40 days for the neurons in the brain to realign themselves, which is what the process of adopting self-affirming handwriting patterns does.
  6.  Write the third letter for a single week.
Aspects of the Letters

Just as you have gifts unique to who you are, so does each letter. I call them "aspects." I'd like to begin our new venture by sharing one of those aspects, perhaps the most important one of all: the Guardian Protector.

Through the years I've studied hundreds of traditions throughout the world, and have found that within each one, there are such beings that we call called "angels" in English, yet are called by a different name in many traditions: devas in the scriptures of India, Al-Malaikah in the Qur'an of Islam, Malakh in the Hebrew Bible----and on and on throughout the world. To avoid religious distinctions, I call each one a Guardian Protector, because that is their role.

Trust me ---They are as alive and attentive as you and I--just invisible, that's all--but fully present nonetheless. Create a conversation with them---then you will know. As with everything I teach, I insist that you do not believe what I say. To know in your heart of hearts that what I say is true, I suggest that you experience it by adopting suggested writing habits, along with applying the aspects of each letter, especially that of the Guardian Protector.

The Letter Ooo: The Letter of Nonverbal Communication

Do not confuse "verbal communication" with the habit of saying the first thing that comes to your mind. It's just the opposite. The Letter Ooo insists that your words never harm another person, but always serve to heal. Writing the Ooo clockwise instills this habit in your consciousness. You may have experienced for yourself that once spoken, words can never be taken back, even by apologizing; they remain imprinted in the mind and heart of the listener. The Letter Ooo, drawn clockwise, insists  that you speak always with respect to the Indwelling Spirit of another, no matter who it is. It helps you give up the need to be right, and Voil! it becomes a natural way of speaking.

Guardian Protector: The Guardian Protector of the Letter Ooo is Amitiel (Ah-MEE-tee-el), the angel of Sensitive Truth-telling. His responsibility is to guide you in speaking always to the Indwelling Spirit in another person, never to prove yourself right or to make another person look bad or appear foolish.

Amitiel guides not only your speaking, but in particular, your writing, for your writing is a graphic reflection of your thought processes. The three: writing, thinking, and speaking, are his focus. As you approach the letter Ooo in a word, slow down and speak this simple prayer to him, "Guide me, bless me, move my pen!"--- and he will accept your invitation by refining your thoughts in a positive, uplifting way. The guidance he will give you in moving your pen may startle you at first. It is this: "Inscribe each letter Ooo in a clockwise direction. Each time. Every time. No exceptions." It is not surprising that when a young child first learns to write, the Ooo is naturally written clockwise!

It's difficult to write the Ooo in a clockwise direction only because it's unfamiliar, just as non-injurious speaking is often unfamiliar when we want to look good or be right. One of Amitiel's many gifts, as you move your pen, is to allow you to release self-righteousness and instead to speak the truth kindly and sincerely. What freedom!

Declaration of Intent:

Without exception, my words are always kind and helpful.

How to inscribe:  Ooo

Uppercase:

Beginning at the top of the upperzone, inscribe a clockwise (yes clockwise) circle (yes, circle not oval) filling the upper- and midzones. End where you began---at the top of the upperzone, closing the circle. No clutter inside the circle; keep it clean.

Lowercase:

Beginning at the top of the midzone, inscribe a clockwise (yes, clockwise) circle (yes, circle, not oval) ending where you began, at the top of the midzone, closing the circle. If you care to, from there, pause and draw a short stroke to the right; this is called a bridge stroke because it creates a bridge to the next letter.

Caveat: No clutter inside the circle; keep it clean.
